House Burglary 1700 block of Joseph
The victim reported to the police that she left her residence Wednesday, Feb 22 at about 8:00 a.m. She stated that she secured the residence and activated the alarm system. The victim stated that about 9:30 a.m. she received a call from her alarm company that the alarm at her house had been set off and it was general motion. She stated that she return back to the house at about 10:45 a.m. to discover that someone had broken into the house and ransacked it and stole several items of value from the home. The investigating officer checked the residence and located the point of entry to be a rear door that had been forced open. The officer checked the rear yard and discovered the rear gate had footprints form the inside and some of the flowers and bushes near the gate had been stepped on. The investigating officer was informed by the NOPD Dispatcher that at about 9:30 a.m. on this date that the police department had received an alarm call from that address. The Second District responded to the call. The responding officers weren’t able to check the rear yard of the residence due to a tall brick fence surrounding the property. The officers were only able to check the front area of the residence. The officers didn’t observed any unusual activity at the residence when they were there.
